You can spawn something and it will float and stay there. The physics are practically non-existent (with exceptions). It is just a decal and you cannot swim at all! This is inexcusable since games which were released years earlier allowed you to swim (for example Super Mario 64 and Half-Life). The water in the game is not even real water. In fact, most of the people who are still there are furries. You might find sometimes people who are nice and can give you money, but not very often. Due to the aforementioned problems, the player base is small. There aren't a lot of differences between the stable and early release either, aside from it being very slightly harder to grief. The project is pretty much dead, and Linden Lab doesn't really seem to care a lot about it.There are also mean users who lurk on the site, and the report system doesn't work. The community is pretty toxic, even more so than Roblox or Minecraft's fanbases.Since Lindens can be converted into dollars, that means users are literally selling character models of other copyrighted franchises. Users managed to upload disturbing content, porn models, broken items and even copyrighted content while asking for Lindens.Just like Roblox, there is a lack of proper moderation, and it led to various problems:.It's basically the game that encouraged Roblox to do the same things they did, such as realistic avatars, doing little to nothing to stop online daters and tons of microtransactions with little to no means of obtaining currency without real money. There are no hunger, thirst, energy or morale meters and your character is literally immortal and can even flyǃǃ Which is just absurd. Even though it claims to be a "Life Simulator", many of the important mechanics are noticeably absent and some others don't make sense. Many of the humans' designs tend to fall in the Uncanny Valley.
However, the game doesn't tell you anywhere how to change to the older ones, so you might end up purchasing an incompatible item.
Realistic? Probably, but not really fun, especially when players have to rely on other people's jobs and such. This could be intentionally made as you have to work for money in real life.Even something as owning your own land costs money. Microtransactions absolutely everywhere! And guess what? Lindens are incredibly hard to obtain without real money and only by unofficial means. You might think that the game runs well on older PCs, when in reality it requires a good version of OpenGL, just like Minecraft. In fact, the optimization is worse than Garry's Mod. It also crashes at various points in the game for no reason. The game lags even on modern PCs, most notably when there are a lot of effects on-screen. For example, your character can get stuck or items may glitch, thus rendering them useless. Suffers from tons of glitches that are present even today. What's even worse is that this project is open-source, so the development time is inexcusable. The developers, as it is said above, are incredibly lazy.Note: Many problems come from the game's developers, but a few of them also come from the userbase.
